Calculated Copper

Whether it's a faux pas or not, I love wearing black and brown together! Having such dark hair and pale skin, it works for my complexion, but it also often happens by default because I'm likely to choose black and brown over colors when I have the option.  A couple of these pieces are definitely something to aspire to, but I think I could whip up a budget version of this outfit in my closet now!   This has been another slapdash installment of styling with vintage!

Bowling date!

This chilly weather has me totally re-thinking my life decisions!   Just kidding.  It's not all that dramatic, but I'm definitely re-thinking my weekend activities post-clock setback. Since moving to Cincinnati I've spent a fair amount of Saturday mornings perusing Findlay Market and wandering the historic Over The Rhine district's charming shops, but I see more indoor activities in my near future. I'm thinking movies, the Krohn conservatory, and ... yes... bowling.   What are your favorite cold weather passtimes?

Second Weekend frolics!

I am relatively new to traveling shows and pop-up shops, so this weekend was a great help in getting me over my jitters!  Saturday night was the super-secret pop up during the Second Saturday walk in Northside, and here's the setup!  It's deceptively simple, but getting this put together (not to mention taken apart) is a complicated series of steps that seems to change every time.   I was so thankful for the practice before Second Sunday on Main, because set-up times can be tight!

Special visitors!!!   It's wonderful to see a friendly face when you're in a new city.  Thanks for coming to see us, Patrice and Dan!

Sunday turned out to be absolutely beautiful for 90% of the day, which was more than enough for me!  The flash downpour we received was more than enough to teach me that I simply must get a tent, there's no avoiding it.

Purple Hippo Stitches was kind enough to let us dash under their tent when the rain set in, and all day, really. Check out her Etsy shop, because Sarah is hilarious!

How BEAUTIFUL are these ladies?!

Thanks to all who came out, stopped by, said hi, listened to me ramble, and even happened to take home some Anatmy Vintage goodies.   Cincinnati, you're fabulous and I'm happy to be here!   Stay tuned for future shop schedules.

Cincinnati: New Horizons

Cincinnati at last!   Matt and I decided, rather quickly, that April would be our last month in beautiful Bloomington.   The move has been both exhausting and exhilarating, especially coming on the heels of closing the shop and vacating my studio/office space.   Leaving was bittersweet, as I have learned so much about myself during the decade I spent in Bloomington.   There is, however, a beautiful new city at my feet that I look forward to exploring.  Here's just a quick peek at my new office space awaiting its setup.   These photos were taken a couple of weeks ago.  This is where the magic happens!

starstruck

Today Jens Lekman stopped by the store!!!

He is one of my favorite musicians of all time.  His quirky pop sounds instantly take me back to the absolute best days of college.  You know, the ones where you have barbecues with your friends, blow up watermelons for the Fourth of July, and drink one too many gin & tonics.  While trying hard to maintain my composure, I forgot to get a photo with him!  Oh well.  I'm having a bad hair day anyway.  I did, however, manage to shake his hand, introduce myself, and get him to play our Suzuki QChord.

I also got a wonderful visit from one of my favorite people, who was unexpectedly in from St. Louis, and some of our newest friends stopped in to give us one of their great coffee demos.

Now I'm considering an impromptu pre-birthday trip to see her and pick up one of my other favorite people who will be visiting from Princeton.  There may even bee a possibility of visiting the Red Velvet Shop.

I'm just not sure how I'm supposed to act now.  The day couldn't possibly get any better.  Oh wait.  Someone made me this......

I'll leave you with this great performance to enjoy.

Cheers!
