art geek: Adrian Gottlieb

I simply love that twitter offers a new way of exploring the internet.  I like clicking on links in my twitter feed because I never know where they're going to lead me.  (Maybe that's a bad idea...) Tonight Twitter roulette led me to Underpaintings, and specifically the post on Adrian Gottlieb.  I confess that since I finished my BFA program I've traded my paintbrushes for a garment rack loaded with ardently thrifted garments, but there's not substitute for some quality time geeking out over fine art.  While my hand may be a little rusty, I'd like to think that maybe 2012 will be the year that I get back to painting.

These lovely dark-haired dames have timeless style.  The kimono, the white headband,  the fox fur collar.  Such classic beauties remind me of the ultimate painting beauty, John Singer Sargent's Madame X, who's dress is to die for.  Here we go again.  Art leads back to fashion.

I hope you have enjoyed these as much as I have. Here's hope there will be more art geek posts in 2012.

  2. Isn't she gorgeous?! What is she reading?! I just want to know. And also, I would like to touch that fox fur collar she has on.
